Heaven must be a Kentucky kind of place. Daniel Boone
About Erin Petrey
Erin found her love for Kentucky and our natural world while growing up on a 90-acre farm in Lawrenceburg. As a kid, she would explore the woods, run through the creek, and study books to learn more about our environment. Her career took her to many places, but she found her true home in renewable energy and sustainability: she wanted to make this world a better place for centuries to come.
Seeing that data centers were a global environmental challenge, she sought out a career in corporate sustainability that would be most impactful. She landed at Amazon Web Services - the largest operator of hyperscale data centers in the world - where she led global voluntary sustainability reporting. But then she saw our country needed a real change, so she ran for Congress in her home district of Kentucky’s 6th.
But sometimes politics means coming together despite any political affiliation. And when an issue as big and gnarly as data centers began to impact communities throughout her beloved home of Kentucky, she couldn’t wait any longer to act. Not for an election. Not for a swearing-in. Not for permission from a higher office. So she didn’t wait. She acted.
Erin created Demanding Data Center Accountability out of a need for Kentuckians - and eventually all Americans - to band together to demand strict regulations on data centers. On our own, our voices can be silenced, but together, we cannot be ignored. DDCA seeks to bring those in power and regular people together to demand the best for our people, our planet, and our future, against the unchecked proliferation and lack of regulation around data centers. Together, a better world that truly serves our people and protects our natural resources is possible. But we cannot do it alone. So will you join us?
